Gluten intolerance affects about one in 200. Patients spend their lives to monitor their diet to avoid the risk of swallowing the cereal “cursed”: wheat, rye, barley … But new work gave hope to develop a treatment. The intolerant will they be able to eat without missing out?

The number of gluten intolerance is largely underestimated in France. For these patients, new treatment hopes arise.

Serious consequences on health

The mechanisms of intolerance to gluten have been announced. When victims of this disease swallow some cereals such as wheat or barley, an inflammatory reaction is triggered at the small intestine accompanied by a general decline in immunity. It follows from digestive disorders such as diarrhea, poor absorption of food … But this can cause more serious problems such as stunted growth in children, neurological symptoms … Recently, gluten intolerance has also been revealed in cases of migraine. Find a treatment against this disease is therefore essential.
